Is there an ongoing effort to update the website - other than maintenance? I really do appreciate its simplicity, but it’s kind of lazy and really has room for improvement. DeltaChat copies modern messengers UI and appearance for a good reason, dropping the outdated look and adding some polish coul…

My general conclusion on the topic is: There isn’t really a way to improve the website: neither is there a clear consensus on possibly dropping the amateurish look, nor seems there to be an orderly way to even get that done. Bummer, but good to know ahead of time. And on the bright side: among th…

[image] bleb: but it would require administrative overhead that may not be worthwhile for the project at this stage. Following this thread with great interest I wanna chime in exactly here. Are you sure the project is still in an “alpha stage”? From my perspective as a multiplicator and issu…

The only constructive feedback I can give is: build an informal workflow of how design is being approached by the project. Because contrary to your view I see huge problems with just pro-actively moving on. As a bystander it is easy to just watch and see how people work on designs, posting “pretty …

My frustration isn’t with you @ploum . It is the lack of structure that makes your post and mine echo in a vacuum where we are left alone with just us. I don’t want to have to make you see how you basically attack a straw man, opposing to everything bad that you see in modern “hip” and “mainstream”. …

[image] mray: I don’t want to have to make you see how you basically attack a straw man, opposing to everything bad that you see in modern “hip” and “mainstream”. You write as if your perspective is expressed so often that repeating it would be tiresome. On the contrary I haven’t seen a desi…

Damn, you totally got me there. Designers aligning with bloat do exist. I’m a designer. So I came here to propose bigger files and slower performance – design related differences would of course be only incidental. What a warm and welcoming attitude! Maybe I could spend time distancin…

What @bleb is trying to say is that, yeah, basically marketer and designer have broken the web and people like us don’t trust them at all, by default. So, as you come as a designer, you have to gain trust. This could be done by describing objectives problem with current website (and, yeah, it’s h…

:face_without_mouth: WOW. It is raining hot takes right here: “Designers broke the web.” “Designers are not to be trusted by default.” Are you even real? Of course! In order to rectify the unspeakable atrocities my people have committed we all have to accept collective punishment and first gain …

designers and engineers broke the web together, in the pursuit of professional success under a mandate to maximize shareholder value. perhaps designers get an unfair share of the blame because their decisions are most visible to the user, and I can imagine it gets tiresome to be lumped in with desi…

After what you said it is nice to hear you suddenly withhold prejudice, for now. I’m seeking constructive exchange among peers, and if you frame that as “more than equal” I’m fine with that. Yes! I’m not interested in having to persuade every single body in order to make progress towards consensus.…

Feels for me like this gets a more heated discussion with every post  What about focussing on the topic instead? I try to sum up with my own words: There has been a wish to overhaul the website, see initial posting and also a call for naming the issues precisely . The discussion later…
