Currently when OAuth Login (Google accounts, Google Workspace accounts) is detected delta chat will resort to browser based OAuth flow and then fill in the password field with the obtained token.
This is technically correct but may confuse users who think this field should contain their password so they might put their password there invalidating the previous login obtained via OAuth
Hide password line once token is obtained and proceed automatically without user intervention.
you can still log in to gmail using “app passwords”, however, apart from that, trying to “play well” with bigtech was not doable in the long run, they seem not to like decentralized and open solution, trying to make things for open apps harder and harder. it is not doable for a project like Delta Chat to pay money, to create videos to target invented buerocracy, and to use closed api.
Delta Chat is focusing on encrypted communication and decentralisation via chatmail relays now.
