Expected behavior
Icon in status bar whan application is running.
Actual behavior
No information about app silently killed by os. There are old requests with extended connection status (#338) but may be just icon will implemented faster? 
By activating the reliable background connection in settings > notifications you should get the permanent icon in notifications
