Over the past two days, while using QQ Mail, I noticed that whenever I try to open my QQ Mail account with DeltaChat, it crashes immediately, making it impossible to use. On the DeltaChat mobile app, I don’t even have time to perform any operations. On ArcaneChat, there’s a quick toggle in the account list, as shown in the image below. So, after several attempts, I turned off the account’s message reception and managed to retrieve the log. Could this be a compatibility issue?

log：
[deltachat-log-20250227-113155.txt](https://forum.delta.chat/uploads/short-url/lc5LEVsxFRNAroKkty7aQgsjkkO.txt) (113.4 KB)

ArcaneChat‘s quick switch：

After several attempts, I discovered that deleting certain emails allowed the application to function normally. Unfortunately, the emails have already been deleted, but it seems that the crashes were caused by specific emails.

Thanks for the report, I filed an issue here:

> <https://github.com/deltachat/deltachat-core-rust/issues/6581>
>
> The error is \`Abort message: 'assertion failed: ix\_start \< line.len()'\` in the l…og https://support.delta.chat/t/qq-email-account-encountered-a-crash/3599/2
>
> The crash is likely this line:
> https://github.com/staktrace/mailparse/blob/d6494b98a8d0baf14a4574c7a8f642a66d7674e6/src/lib.rs#L118
>
> In the core itself we have eliminated most of the indexing/slicing and don't introduce more: https://github.com/deltachat/deltachat-core-rust/pull/6214
>
> I file the issue here because we need to fix the bug in \`mailparse\`, update it an have a test in the core reproducing the crash.

This is fixed in core 1.156.1 which should be used in the next releases.
