## Expected behavior

When tapping a message, there is an option for reacting with an emoji (like in slack or Telegram). The emoji will then be displayed at the bottom of the message, with a count if multiple people react with the same emoji.

Additionally, a shortcut could be added for “liking” a message/expressing approval/consent really quickly: when a user double-taps a message, a reaction with a heart ❤ emoji is automatically sent.

This would be really helpful to improve communication expererience in a modern way when quickly reading through a list of new messages, for example.

Also, users could do polls using this system (e.g. with 👍 and 👎 or 1️⃣ to 🔟) really easily and while having a good overview.

I am sorely missing the ability to send custom emoji reactions (i.e. small PNGs). It’s an integral part of many online cultures.

RFC 9078 does not cover this use case.

That is not accessible and is inefficient and I highly oppose that. I know some platforms implement them, though, some FOSS.

this was a duplicate of [Reactions to Messages - #3 by Simon](https://support.delta.chat/t/reactions-to-messages/2001/3) which is solved now since we already have reactions to messages
